My lack of updates is astounding, but my computer chooses to only come to life about once a week these days, so until the new one arrives, enjoy this chat! Things are slowing down a bit, peak migration has passed, but school groups are still rolling through and Myrtle Warblers continue to dominate net runs, often surprising us on a seemingly slow day with 10-15 in a one net.

These guys shouldn't really be here, considering they don't breed in the state, but almost every fall dispersing young find their way to Manomet.

The yellow-breasted chat caught today at Lagunitas Creek. It appears that only 16 others have been caught by us...


Townsend's warbler

At each beetle monitoring station we have set up large, bright yellow sticky traps which we replace every two weeks. We usually catch a few hundred flies, but today we found that something a little bigger managed to run into it, and kill itself...a yellow breasted chat. This was only yesterday I think.
