Never have I ever

I don't know that I've ever consciously taken a picture of a female California Quail, but here's one.  I think she's pretty, though a bit soggy.  She was running around with 10 or 12 golf ball sized babies yesterday afternoon at Dogtown.

Best day so far

Today Amanda and I had a really great day banding at Redwood Creek. We caught a total of 41 birds, with 16 species. The highlights were 2 barn swallows, a tree swallow, a black-headed grosbeak, a warbling vireo, and mix of juvenile birds! We also ran into a female common merganser with 4 chicks, shortly before peeking into the hummingbird nest I found the week before, which now has two cute little raisin-like nestlings in it.

Until next year #alumnigame

After an awesome alumni weekend with CUT, I somehow made it back to Cali in time for work today. Not much sleep for four days, but with 29 birds today we were kept busy at Pine Gulch
