Chestnut Hill Sparrows

Two days ago I found a pair of sparrows along the Chestnut Hill Reservoir feeding in the few grassy spots exposed post Nemo.  Without binoculars I decided they were a Savannah and American Tree Sparrow, but after rushing home and back again for a camera and bins I was surprised to find it was in fact a Field Sparrow in place of the usual tree sparrow.

No GYR

Today and yesterday I went out searching for the Gyrfalcon that has been seen in Hadley the last couple of weeks.  Though a few people think they had glimpses, I'm a bit skeptical as there were Merlin, Peregrines, Harriers, Red-taileds, and Rough-legs around, and people tend to see what they want.  But hey, I'm still jealous.

I did however see some great songbirds along Aqua Vita Road where someone had spread seed along the road.  Lots of Snow Buntings, Horned Larks, and Savannah Sparrows, along with a Clay-colored and Vesper Sparrow.

At 44 Cave Hill

Been sick the last few days, and it's humid as all hell here, but got out to get eaten alive this afternoon.

I also saw these:
