Though not completely uncommon, I was excited to find a Barrow's Goldeneye amongst a few Common Goldeneyes on the day the of the crossbills and MGWA.

    Yours is the 2nd blog I've seen posting about these gorgeous creatures. Although, I suppose since you posted earlier than the other (Ecobirder), YOURS is the 1st.

    Cracks me up when super gorgeous birds like that ALSO have a dark iridescence on their heads, like the Barrow's and bufflehead. Never saw the latter's extra color until I was in the San Diego Zoo where they are in a small little walk through area post-hippo-or-polar-bear viewing. GORgeous.
