GUCR banding day

Banding was a great success yesterday, catching around 75 birds with nine nets, including 8 species of warbler (Yellow-rumped, Orange-crowned, Black-throated Gray, Townsend's, Macgillivray's, Wilson's, Hermit and Yellow), an Evening Grosbeak, a male Western Tanager, a Warbling Vireo, a bunch of Song Sparrows, and others.

Cold Count

Today was fairly uneventful. We banded 3 birds: Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and Black-throated Gray. I learned to survey the shorebirds, I counted a bunch of gulls, and used the crane for the first time.

Yesterday I banded at Redwood Creek with Amanda. We caught 14 birds, with 10 species, including two Lincoln's Sparrows, the first and possibly only Black-throated Gray Warbler of the year and a Western Scrub Jay, a common bird, but not often caught.
