In HK

We made it to HK last night after a 14 hour flight full of movies and the Simpsons and no sleeping. It's quite a leap from SEFI to HK island.

Made it off the island

Off the island now, in Oakland, packing away, about to settle catan, sleep, then 12 hours of flying to HK with AG!

I will leave you with this Peregrine eaten gull

Oh yea, we also had a Glaucous Gull today, or whatever.

Still on SEFI

I did not make it off the island today, as the weather was completely wrong for a landing...luckily our flight to Hong Kong is not until Monday and the weather is looking good for tomorrow! Unfortunately this means Amanda is left to pack up ALL of our belongings in Bolinas! SEFI has been great, but I'm thrilled to hop onto the next one and get a personal tour of "the best city in the world" (quoting an unbiased Amanda).

Two days ago a couple of Townsend's Solitaires showed up, the first of the year!

We got good looks at them before it got dark, but an even better look when one of them flew into our kitchen after dinner while the door was open. It was quickly and safely retrieved by Jim and brought to the banding lab.

Bull

I've seen Elephant Seal bulls before, but I really did not remember how big they actually were. This is one of the first we have seen for the fall and it's not even that large for an adult male, but it just puts all of the immatures we've been seeing the whole season to shame. They look tiny now.
