VEER
Our first Veery of the season a couple of weeks ago. We've now had 10+, as well as five Gray-cheeked Thrush and a number of Swainson's.

These guys shouldn't really be here, considering they don't breed in the state, but almost every fall dispersing young find their way to Manomet.
Intergrade Flicker
On our closing net run yesterday we caught the first intergrade Northern Flicker I've ever seen and only the second in the last decade here. This is a hybrid between the eastern yellow-shafted subspecies and the western red-shafted subspecies of Northern Flicker.

Yellow-throated Vireo?
It's the first since 1999, which is hard to believe considering they breed in Massachusetts. Beautiful, loud bird

Young Red-shouldered Hawk
Despite having trapped hawks for a couple of seasons my only two in hand experiences with Red-shouldered Hawks has been at songbird banding stations. My first was this spring in California and my second was just last week here at Manomet. Another young bird, of course.
