Indigo Bunting
Though very common out east, Indigo Buntings are out of place out west where Lazuli's dominate. Seen at Mt. Burdell on Deer Camp Fire Road.

Western Scrub Jays are very common around these parts, but finding a nest and catching one still feels special. This lady was found by Xeronimo in our back yard.
This one was caught a few days ago at the field station.
The color bands are useful tools for identifying the bird in the field as an individual.
